The PFI is committed to ensuring that the 1st building block of responsible pet ownership – complete nutrition – is taken care of. When purchasing your pet food, look out for confirmation that the brand you choose is a member of the PFI. In this way, you can rest assured that you have chosen a brand that is committed to upholding international standards of quality & safety in pet nutrition and that strive to ensure that their pet food is aligned with ethical and safe food processes. This should give you peace of mind that what it says on the bag is exactly what’s in the bag.

And while PFI membership is not compulsory, the rigorous screening and approval process that brands undergo before joining, endorses their commitment to continually uphold these nutritional standards and operate in a manner that puts the wellbeing of pets first.

The old adage “you are what you eat” holds as true for pets as it does for owners. So, when choosing the right brand for your pet, the first question you should ask is, “is this pet food brand a member of the PFI?”

Everything that the PFI does is aimed at improving the long term care and wellbeing of South African pets by instilling trust in safe, commercial nutrition. As such, the actions taken by the PFI, to regulate and police the pet food market, extend to members and non-members alike.
